Born on February 12th 1809, in Hodgenville, Kentucky

His wife was named Mary Todd Lincoln, who came from a very wealthy family.
Abraham had four children, Robert Todd Lincoln, Edward Lincoln, Willie Lincoln, Tad Lincoln. Only Robert Todd Lincoln survived into adulthood.
He was preceded by James Buchanan (Ughhhh!) and succeeded by Andrew Johnson.
Before his presidential election in 1860, Abraham Lincoln had served as a country lawyer, a state legislator in Illinois, a member of the House of Representatives and had campaigned twice for US Senate elections.
Was the sixteenth President of the United States. Angels are singing!!!!
His party was Republican and he was president for four years from 1861-1865
As president, he helped preserve the Union.
"A house divided against itself cannot stand. I believe this government cannot endure permanently half-slave and half-free. I do not expect the Union to be dissolved - I do not expect the house to fall - but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing or all the other." Abraham Lincoln (House Divided Speech, June 16, 1858)

His greatest accomplishment, was the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863- The document also allowed black soldiers to fight for the Union
Wrote the Gettysburg Address, one of most famous speeches in American History. The Battle of Gettysburg, though a Union victory, was the bloodiest battle of the Civil War. He honored the sacrifice of the soldiers who died in battle. It marked the end of the American Civil War.
Promoted the passage of the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution in 1865 which abolished slavery
Led the country through the American Civil War
Assassinated on Good Friday, April 14, 1865
Abraham Lincoln set an example of strong character, leadership, and honesty which later presidents tried to imitate. Barack Obama is the most recent president to look to Lincoln as a model.

Interesting Facts

He was the first president to be assassinated.
He had deep depression, even though he would frequently tell stories and jokes to friends and family.
He was the tallest U.S president at 6’4”.
He was the first president to have a beard.
Lincoln, one week before his death, had a dream of someone crying in the White House. When he found the room, he looked in and asked who had passed away. The man in the room said the President. When he looked in the coffin, it was his own face that he saw.

Abraham Lincoln and John Fitzgerald Kennedy were two of the most famous presidents that the United States of America ever had.They were the most celebrated, mainly due to their personalities, their policies and their assassinations.
Both presidents had seven letters in their last name.
Both presidents were over six feet tall.
Abraham Lincoln was elected president in 1860, while John F. Kennedy was elected in 100 years later in 1960.
The assassins of both the presidents used three names: John Wilkes Booth shot Abraham Lincoln while Lee Harvey Oswald shot John F. Kennedy.

Lincoln was shot at the Ford's Theater in Box 7, while Kennedy was shot in his Ford Lincoln Limousine, which was the 7th car in the Dallas Motorcade.
